Privacy Policy
Mizwala · Effective 21 October 2026
Mizwala does not collect any data about you. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
Your location
If you allow it, Mizwala uses your location to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. The calculation happens on your device and your location is stored only on your device. It is never sent to us. To show your city's name, and when you search for a city by name, Mizwala uses Apple's location services, which Apple handles under its own privacy policy. You can choose a city instead of sharing your location.
What you record
Prayers you mark as prayed, fasts and prayers to make up, your azkar progress, saved remembrances, your tasbeeh count, your Quran bookmarks, khatma plan and memorization, and your settings are stored on your device. They are never sent to us. Widgets, Siri and the Apple Watch app read them on the same device.
Optional iCloud sync
Sync is off unless you turn it on in Settings. When it is on, your Quran progress, prayer record, favourites and qada are copied to your own iCloud account (Apple's iCloud key-value storage) so they match on your iPhone, iPad and Mac. We cannot see or access them; Apple stores them under its own privacy policy. Your location and alert settings are never synced. Turning sync off removes the copy from iCloud; each device keeps its own data.
Reciting with the microphone
If you use “Recite from memory”, Mizwala listens through the microphone only while that screen is listening, and follows your recitation with a speech model that runs entirely on your device. Audio is never recorded, stored or uploaded. The speech model is downloaded once, when you ask for it, from our public GitHub releases; like any download, GitHub receives your device's network address when it serves the file.
Notifications
Prayer alerts are scheduled on your device. No server is involved.
Children
Mizwala collects no data from anyone, including children.
